Utilization of palm fiber as papermaking materials: Microscopic structure and chemical pulping

نویسندگان

چکیده

The microscopic structure and pulping properties of palm fiber were explored. Soda cooking sulfate conducted compared in terms physical strength the obtained pulps. Sulfate pulp showed better performance than soda pulp, as indicated by 23% higher tensile index, 49% tear 36% burst index. To further elevate strength, long fibered (LFP), namely commercial softwood was mixed with at levels from 20% to 50%. At blend level 50%, index 52.13 N•m/g, 15.63 mN•m2/g, 3.42 kPa•m2/g attained. lignin spent liquor isolated characterized. mainly composed guaiacyl syringyl units, weight-average molecular weight 3616 g/mol.

Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction of Arabinogalactan and Dihydroquercetin Simultaneously from Larix gmelinii as a Pretreatment for Pulping and Papermaking

An ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) method using ethanol was applied for extracting arabinogalactan (AG) and dihydroquercetin (DHQ) simultaneously from larch wood, as a pretreatment for pulping and papermaking. The extraction parameters were optimized by a Box-Behnken experimental design with the yields of AG and DHQ as the response values. Under optimum conditions (three extractions, each ...

Utilization of Soil Stabilization with Cement and Copper Slag as Subgrade Materials in Road Embankment Construction

In this study, unconfined compression tests have been conducted to investigate the impacts of copper slag on mechanical characteristics for stabilized cement and un-stabilized soil. Dozens of specimens were prepared at four percentages of cement (i.e. 0%, 2%, 4% and 6%) and five percentages of copper slag (i.e. 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) by weight of dry soil. The samples compacted into a cylind...

Evaluation of the Chemical Composition of Different Non-Woody Plant Fibers Used for Pulp and Paper Manufacturing

The chemical composition of several non-woody plant fibers (bast fibers from flax, hemp, kenaf, jute; leaf fibers from sisal, abaca and curaua; and giant reed), which are used as raw materials for pulp and papermaking, has been evaluated. Particular attention was paid to the composition of the lipophilic compounds and the structure of the lignin polymer since they are important components of th...
